The main project for Pevan & Sarah in 2024 was a new school subscriptions product. It lets schools sign up and manage their own subscription, and control which of their teachers have access to the account. I led the project as the lead developer and architect, with a developer on my team helping on the build while I handled the project management.
There were a couple of main parts to it:
- A teacher invitation and acceptance system, managed by the school admin
- A new subscription billing system, including prorations and invoices
This side of things was built using Node.js, BullMQ and Stripe.
Alongside the school subscriptions, we built a number of other features that year too – video subtitle management and syncing with Mux, new blog and events features, a Flodesk newsletter integration, and more.
The bulk of the work was done through 2024, with the new school subscriptions launching in early 2025.
